beijing, a city reprensent a modernization and political power centre of China. thousands of immigrant flood in the city, cuz it is a magnetic, which attraction the best resource of overall country, dislike Washiongton DC, It isnt a uni-functional city, it is a collective of many advanced industries,headquaters, goverment departments, millions of population, economic city, but without fresh air, mixed pop culture, for my perspectives, beijing is home to locals, pityful, cuz it symbolize whole nation, many people like bee go into this large beehive, lastly, it means tragedy, no local favour, no international steps, local people feel uneasy, cuz urban life cannot harmonized wholesome, people outside purchase house here, and to be labelled as a king of China, and enjoy priviledge. but at morality limit, their behavious as terrible as uneducated and impolite place. they broken tranquility. so more out-man come on in, more local citizen antipathy, and called xenophobia!!! thery lost the commom memory in different site, while ugly economic bulding placed the historic site. not like Paris, or Tokyo, people get disconcerened. and turn to dumb.

- I am hoping to xi'an is the capital of china,but it's impoossible.
every country may have this problem, I dont think that local citizen lost more than get. everything has two sides, people dont always see about what your lost. 
this is only a personal opinion.

- it capital could move out, it helpful to balance economic nationwide, mid-west region share more favorable privilege.with developing, more new things pour into ouurs mind, but we still date back to historic steps, both modern and tradition, can represent value of a great city.

- When I first landed at Beijing airport a large overhead banner read:
'YOUR DREAMS START HERE - WELCOME TO BEIJING';
The words your dreams start here was deeply ingrained in my mind and keep popping up. The statement has a lot of contradictions. Yes, there are a lot of opportunities in Beijing but there are also plenty of frustrations, disappointments and failures. The large number of migrants into Beijing gave rise to a lot of problems. The newly rich are buying up houses pushing up home prices and keeping it out of reach of most residents. The new arrivals are disadvantages by the 'huokou' system. Those without hukou there becomes nobody. The migrants are needed for development but they are not compensation adequately. The result is a lot of unhappy migrants working far away from home and with an uncertain future. There are increasing friction between the locals and newcomers. The town planning system seems to be failing as we can see lifeless glass office building being built adjacent to famous cultural and historic sites permanently damaging the value and importance of those sites. Somethings effective needs to be done, otherwise, we would have long term problems.
