The society is overwhelmed with the negative, but is it ture?
We are living in a world of media, internet, newspaper, advertisement, TV, magazine,they are everywhere which touched every aspect of our live, but most of all, the media is focusing on the negative, ugly and nasty side of the society, the impending Iran war, Somali pirate, horrible shooting on American campus, border conflict, Chinese college graduate died in idleness, Bo scandal, blood sheding, hatred, the numbness of the masses, so and so; even from the blogs on dioenglish there are plenty of negative thoughts on friendship, on love and above all on cruelty of the society.
Frankly speaking, I was a lit bit overwhelmed and even a little depressed, we could not deny them, they are ugly, hideous and nasty things, they are also matter of facts which had happened and will keep happen in the future. Here I don’t want to argue from the profound and delicate human nature, I want to argue from the perspective of the media.
The media focusing on the negative is not a bad thing because one of the roles of media in a civil society is to highlight wrongs that can be righted, to inspire people to act , to change, to make the world a better place. But is the negative the reality of the world, I don’t think so, there are millions and billions of honest transactions going on every day in this world, there are numerous good deeds have been done every minutes and millions of happy family are enjoying their life and appreciating the good. We should see through the disguise that the bad attract attention because the bad is against the rule and it is the exception. We should rationally evaluate the situation, rather than focusing on the negative only. We should not be overwhelmed by the negative and turned us into pessimist because the bad is not the majority and not the reality. Please don’t think also that being positive is being detached or unrealistic, on the contrary, being positive is being realistic because the good is the vast majority and the reality. Learn to focus and appreciate the good, because the value of the good will be increased and focus will create reality. There are so many good things in this world deserve our focus and appreciation, great masterpieces of literature, great paints and music, our family, new technology, great knowledge, honest work……. My dear friends, please don’t put so much of your precious time on the negative, but spend more time on the wonderful things in the world, to appreciate, to love, the world would be a much better place if all of us keep doing so.

- Tragedies can always attract more public attentions than good things. The media, which prospers on public attentions, is hard to changes that trend. but we, like you said, should not become numb after exposing to so many negatives. after all, many nice things and good people do exisit in this world.

- enjoy reading your this blog indeed. to be frank, i admit some nagative things exist in our society. but in such a full clear society, nothing is hidden and everyone is a small tiny media too in some extent. we see it;s so quickly spreading when a social incident happened, even most of people are complaining , most of net news are full of criticism with a critical eyes and sharp mouth.
i dislike the nogative persons. i don't mean what a positive person i am, but i perfer to believe beauty still exist in our society. how many people are working and striving for people's hopeful beautiful future around us?? generally no eyes to find and no mouthes to speak, but it don't equal they don't exist in this world. i perfer to keep silent with myself's eyes and my exchangable heart, to view a incident with a another exchangable position. i believe human are full of love and warm, i believe anything will be changing better. and i 'm willing to do my effort for any possible if i can have a little power. complaining is nothing but some indifferent attitude, cynical style is not my love, never be, and i dislike cynical persons too.maybe i have said too much in your space today, if some offense, please forgive, merely can't help showing my attitude here after reading this topic.
