Two roads

455 views. 2012-6-3 22:01

Two road diverged in a wood, and

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

                     Robert Frost

Everyone choose one of two roads in life—the old and the young, the rich and the poor, men and women alike. One is the broad, well-traveled road to mediocrity, the other the road to greatness and meaning.

The path to mediocrity straitjackets human potential. The path to greatness unleashes and realizes human potential. The path to mediocrity is the quick-fix, short-cut approach to life. The path to greatness is a process of sequential growth from the inside out.------Stephen R. Covey

We are in an age in which more and more people have to manage their own life. Gaining wisdom in managing our life is crucial to prosper in this age of freedom and choices. I would like to choose the road less traveled by, and believing also that would make a difference in my life. No matter how long we've walked life's pathway to mediocrity, we can always choose to switch paths. Always, it's never too late.

oh? why woite such a big topic? at least i think so. we all think ourselves in life way, whay a way we should choose and what a life style we desire to pursuit? different people hold different views. but if i were a wood, even though a short wood, i would rather to be a buring one, instead of a dead log. that's not my say, i can't remember whose famous say today. merely quote here.  though maybe i'm still a mediocrity, always be.hehe

most people chose to live a mediocre life as they believe it's the most effortless process to just follow others' suit, seemingly less dangerous, less demanding.  it's true that we can always switch paths as long as we're enough determined to do so. what they say: it's never too late to be the person you want to be. that's why there're less elites who achieve big.

Hehe, a burning log rather than a dead log, not a mediocre saying at all, a burning log like a burning candle, give light to others while fading herself, that’s a noble view of life. You never know how many people were inspired by you, how many hopes you have lighted up, that is a road less travelled by in my mind for sure.

A road to greatness existed in the mind of everyone who has had a glimpse of human greatness. the efforts, however minutes it is, to change the world to a better place, is not a mediocre one. everyone is capable of that with our nature bestowed gifts, you only have to choose to unleash the potential. everyone have the choice.

The younger we are, the more enthusiastic we would be for our dreams and ambition; while the older we become, the more we would content ourselves with the mediocrity of success. Changing for men of age is not easy. What matters the most is I think the environment of growing up in which we would cultivate in oursevles a sense of fulfilment by tapping the potential gifted by God.

" cultivate in oursevles a sense of fulfilment by tapping the potential gifted by God", you just said what i meant to say, haha. The tapping of human potential in itself make our life meaningful, the happiness thus obtained is so much a profund one.

it's true that people need to unleash the potential. i read a short story yesterday about a pianoist playing in a bar won  lot of applause. people came just to hear him play. things would continue like this until one day a lady demanded a song. little did he know he was to entre a brand new period of his life. through some strenuous efforts after that success, he became a big shot everafter.   most people including me are just too lazy to choose the challenge. that's why we are the most common folks. but there is always that restless thinking that presses us to carry on with our work. to struggle for a better future.

Life is always full of choices, and each way has its own difficulties and frustrations. Therefore, we should, in my view, choose the way that we want. After all, it is never be late to be the person that we want to become.

Sometimes, I am really wondering the meaning of greatness to humans. To me, personally, I think that I would be satisfied enough if I could support my family with a decent life, be a caring husband and a father of love, treat people benevolently and generously, continually enlarge my mind through reading or travelling, and treat mother nature with respect and love. Somebody said that few of us can do great things, but all of us can do small things with great love. I think this saying did make sense to most of us ordinary people.

hello, Elinor, how is your life going?  the name elinor is so elegant to me, hehe. whatever the way of life you want to have, just go ahead bravely, even failure would be a great treasure to our life.

choosing the broad, less-travelled road usually calls for considerable courage and preverance, sometimes even sacrifice. Those who adamantly set their foot on the road undoutfedlly win our respect and admiration. Friend, you are among them. In most of the days, I just envy those life heros but am too cowardly to pursue dreams in my heart and make a difference to my life.

Have a dream, gain the knowledge you might need; with that knowledge, comes the power -- confidence and ability ...!  Thus, when the opportunity comes, you will be able to grasp it. Wish you good luck in your future endeavour1 ... Oh... almost twenty years ago, the path I chose lead me to land on the other side of the earth -- that was really an unforgettable journey...
