The astonishing hypothesis

515 views. 2012-8-13 13:46 |

Francis Crick, a nobel prize winner for physiology and medicine, is famous with his astonishing hypothesis: you, your joys and your sorrows, your memories an your ambitions, your sense of identity and free will were in fact no more than the behavior of a vast assembly of nerve cells and their associated molecules, in short, you are nothing but a pack of neuros.

Any atheist should accept this view without doubt which make this hypothesis more astonishing than ever to most chinese people. On the other hand,  being a person who is increasingly becoming one of the agnostics, I believe that besides a pack of neuros and  their associated molecules, there are some other mysterious substance combined to make up a human being.

It's a little difficult for me to understand something about biology and physiology. I just know human being is made of fresh and blood like other animals.

it is our brain that made us different from animals. we have hundres of billions of nueroes in our brain with countless chemical reactions that made all our daily life possible. but how is it possible that our emotions, creativities at such high level of existence came from just a pack of nuroes and fleshes and blood, that's really astonishing a real mystery to my little mind. hehe
