Recently,I have read a book written by Nicholas Sparks,it is mainly about a love story between John Tyree and Savannah during the war.

John Tyree was born in 1977,and he grew up in Wilmington,North Carolina,a city that proudly boasts the largest port in the state as well as a long and vibrant history.His dad had one of the steadiest,solid-citizen jobs on the planet and he drove a mail delivery route for the post office.

John and his dad were as different as two people could possibly be.Where his dad was passive and introspective,he was always in motion and hated to be alone.His dad raised him up alone.As he grew older,he sometimesheard neighbours whispering about the fact that his mom had run off when he was less than a year old.All his dad would say was that she’d realised she made a mistake in getting married so young.John’s dad had one great passion in his life-sitting in his den and studying his collection of coins.Their estrangement grew worse over time.John gave up his contacts with friends and sports.Things got worse,John’s rebellion reached a high point.His grades had been slipping for two years.Growning up,he’d never considered entering the military.He used to think that military life was for losers,but at last he joined the army and he was changed by everything he felt in the army.He had hands of time to read and chat with his buddies.People trade books back and forth or sign them out from th elibrary until the covers are parctically worn away.

John had his first holiday in the army,and he decided to go home.When he arrived home,everything was where he remembered.It was early June 2000,the temperature was already hot,and thw water was refreshing.He can see everything from his vantage point on the board.

He jumped into the waves to retrieve a girl’s bag,and they began to know each other.The girl is Savannah,a college student,and she was also in her holiday.She introduced a boy,Alan,to John,who is very autistic,and she took care of him.Several days later,Savannah and John became lovers.John brought her home and they had a good time with his father.

John had to go back to his army and Savannah promised him that she would write letters to him very often.Wherever John went,they always got contaceted by letters.However,with the breaking out of the war,John applied for prolonging his service time,which made Savannah confused and angry.At last,she supported his decision.

Several months later，Savannah decided that she can no longer wait for John when he reupped back into the army after Sept. 11. Her heart broke every day that he was gone and she had no idea if he'd come back. Just before his career ended with the army (he became an army lifer because he didn't know what else to do with himself), she married a friend that she grew up with. She wrote John the titled letter that ends the relationship and saying she'd understand if he never wanted to speak to her again. She also lived with guilt the whole time she'd married before he came home to say his official goodbye from her life. John came home to bury his father (so sad) and went to see her once more. He still loved her and she still loved him, but now she'd married. Her husband was dying of cancer and they had very little money to finance his medical help. She'd been married less than two years and thinks he might die. The husband told John to take care of her after he dies and that's that. John cashed in his dad's coin collection that was left to him and sent all of the money anonymously to finance the husband's bills. The husband made a full recovery with an experimental drug and went on to live with Savannah happily ever after. Meanwhile John was watching in the distance making sure she was happy with the life she chose away from him. He did the right thing by letting her go.
