learn more about diamond

396 views. 2011-11-11 17:13 |

Today I was asked to translate something about diamond formation and  structure. I found that I know nothing about the professional items. unluckly I don't have any dictionary or other document  to help I suddenly have a stange sence of learning somthing  about diamnd everyday. I attended a diamond classe before  that gave me a basic and general knowledge of diamond. I never thought deeper and this idea held my step of searching  more mystery about diamond.

Diamonds lies in the heart of the plant at a depth of more than 200kilometres exposed to extremly high temperature of 1700 to 2500 degrees and to a pressure of 75000 kilograms per square centimetre.it is composed of carbon with somtimes traces of nitrogen. each carbon atom is linled to four other carbon atoms, located at the corners of a regular tetrahedron.all atoms making up the diamond crystal are linked to each other by covalent bonds with a regular three-diamensional arrangement.

we have crystal orand Maccles or twinned crystal. but crystal is better than twinned crystal diamond since it is more compact. and crystal may form in different shapes. round or cubic, tetrahedron, dodecahedron or octahedron. rough is an very important factor that affects the brightness of diamonds. like the  genes to human to some extend.

that's what I learnt today.
