it so happened today that i downloaded this film to kill time, but it turned out to be a very touching and meaningful story.
when i saw the name, i thought it might be about the entertainment alike the sea world dolphins. but throught Ric's story about his life with dolphins and how he and other members in Oceanic preservation society fight for the freedom of all dolphins shocked me a lot.
at first, Ric helped people to capture dolphin for a film, flipper, he had a very intimate relationship with a dolphin. when Flipper came out, people discovered that dolphin means a lot of money, so Fishermen became to capture dolphins, and more and more dolphins were slaughtered even for meet. Ric saw by his own eyes how dolphins tried to escape and killed themselves.
he orgnized the OPS and led them to this cove is in Japan, a town called Taiji, use Ric's words, Taiji is a small town with big secret, it's bizarre that you see museum outside the cove but thousands of dolphins were slaughtered in the cave, but few people knew what happened here. when you see the dolphins play with smile faces, but actually the stressed out and achs in their hearts. many more were capitivitied, some kill themselves for they don't want to lose freedom, and the cove water is all red for blood of dolphins, Ric wants to set dolphins free but he was arrested for three times.Japanese governments killed two of his colleagues, the local Fishermen stop them for entering this cove, they made the film in hoping of stop Japanese to capture and slaughter dolphins.
what worse, the japanese serve dolphin meat as free luch for children.people actually don't konw what they bought was dolphine meat in market. the interview said they kill them not because of money, not for government, it's part of their culture, they just like slaughter.
this film make me much more hate Japanese
