Life sometimes sucks here!

I didn’t know what to do after I came to California. I thought I could be a Chinese teacher on weekend school to teach ABC children. For some reasons, I am tried of teaching since I used to be a teacher in China. I made up my mind to go to nursing school to become a register nurse (RN) in the future since I will have some professional skills and it also is a big shortage. I went to the cheap community college to study some ESL course and all the prerequisites for get into the RN program. It took me two years to finish the prerequisites and applied for this fall. The way the school chooses candidates is based on lottery and now switched to waiting list. It look likes I have to waiting at least 3 to 4 years to get into the program to study another two years. When I talked to my friends and my family in China, nobody believes that why it was so hard to become a nurse.

   The only way for me to get a good job is to become a nurse, especially in such a bad economy situation in the US. Of course, I can work as a cashier, housekeeper, nurse assistant, and get mini wage to survive, but that is not my goal to come here. I want to master some professional skills to help people who in needs. I can also travel around if I become a travel nurse. I was good at Chinese literature and languages before, now I have to switch to science, unbelievably I love science. It will be a long journey to write well and speak well in English even through I am in the right environment, I understand how frustrated for your guys in China to study English well. I believe some people are really good in academic writing English, but not oral English.

  I came here as not top technician but only nobody. I have to fight for my future. I also terrible miss my hometown. Life here is not that easy. I got discouraged sometimes and want to give up everything just be a bum at home. You have no idea how frustrated to get into the nurse program. Time just flies. How many years can I waste here?
