Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:

The most important education for students is not taught in classroom or school.

Nowadays, we are living in a society with rapid development of social economics and advanced technology, which all demands enormous knowledge and certain educational background. Since everyone in this age wants to make achievements or acquire positive reputation, no matter by academic research, business investments or social behaviors, the great significance of education is absolutely useful. Thus, by establishing the importance of education, here comes a question: whether the most important lessons are taught in schools or not? This question, rudimentary or sophisticated, reflects our views toward school education. From my point of view, the answer should be a qualified no.

The main reason for my inclination is that not everyone owned the chance to obtain school education, especially excellent education; however, these difficulties didn’t prevent them from being a illustrious man. Charles Dickens, the well-known British novelist and the man I admire and always look up to, is said that he was born in a poor family, which can’t afford his school tuition. Thus, he had no choice but dropped school at the age of 12. He went to a shoe-polish factory, where constantly mocked by other coworkers. Instead of being beaten or scared, Charles secretly holds a dream of becoming a published writer. He recorded the incidents happened around him and submitted his articles to the magazines and newspaper. After several times of failure, he succeeded. A Tale of Two Cites turned out as a completely success. Tough lack of professional school education, Charles still grew to an influential and brilliant person.

Furthermore, some life experiences, which are useful and vital to a student’s further development, are seldom taught in schools. Several years after we graduate from university, most of what we learned there would be forgotten, however, the life experiences would remain for a life-long time. We learn the importance of tolerance when cooperate with others, we learn the valuable of cherish when regain an opportunities, we learn the vital of perseverance when a difficulty shocked us. Those knowledge, can certainly say are all taught at school, benefiting to our further development in an influential way.

However, to say that all school education is not important runs the risk of oversimplifying. It’s not unheard of that the school education is vital in children’s progressing process. The knowledge taught in school, especially in universities, contributes to students’ career development and perhaps life-style decision. In addition, according to the “single-child policy” in China, a couple can only have one child in city, thus a group named single child emerged. This special group has its disadvantages, like self-centered and knows nothing about how to show your caress to others, etc. by attending to school, accompany with others, they learn the important of sharing, tolerance, and the fantastic qualities from other students, attributing to their growth.

From what has been discussed mentioned above, we may safely get to the conclusion that the lessons taught by school do have their advantages and positive impacts on students, however, whether they are the most significance ones should be take into consideration. As far as I am concerned, the experiences and lessons being accepted in life and society play more important role in building one’s character.

I think it depends on how we define eduation. I believe that school education to a large extent does improve your IQ level, however, most of the achievenments later you will make is not because of IQ but EQ which you probably can't learn that much in that of school compared to the environment of society..~
