Stay Isolated; Stay Focused

655 views. 2012-5-22 16:57 |

Yesteray, May 21, 2012, Monday, early in the morning, I was forced to wake up from a sweet dream which I can not recall in detail now. “Gosh, can’t you let me enjoy a little bit more in my fancy dream”, I whispered after answering my customer. I knew from that very moment that this Monday, as usual, was gonna be an eventful day. Good things always come alone, bad things with a company. The work occupied me from 7:30a.m. through 18:30p.m. What’s worse is the generator refused to start. Since it was already late in the evening, to call a mechanic to look into the proplem is impossible. I have to kill another night without light, unblievable for people from countries with power and water 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. However, here in Nigeria, the daily necessities, like power and water, sometimes, seems so aloof and inaccessible. Things bad yet sometimes are useful as well.

Stay isolated; stay focused. One beautiful poetic sentence says “Night gives me eyes of darkness, while I use them to find light.” One thing good for being in dark is there is no lure around me. Nowadays, we people have so many things around us that could totally occupy us, the almighty one being the cyerworld and the softwares and hardwares connecting us to it. The cyberworld and these softwares and hardwares take so much time and energy from us, especially young people whose youth to some extent has been ruined, just due to the cyberworld and connecting means. I am the kind of person who seldomly installs QQ, Facebook, Twitter, and the like onto my handsets. Now my laptop is down, the handsets are not fully functional, and the accesses to cyberworld are totally barricaded due to the lack of power. As a saying goes “when God close one door, he will open a widow.” Luckily one last access to entertainment is still there for me—a candle and a lighter. I took out the lighter, lit the candle, and accessed the book I have in hand. Surprisingly, never have I in the past few months been so indulged in my book, reading quick and reading between the lines. Time and time again, my thoughts allied with the author’s, just like dancing to harmonious music, without knowing that time is always on the go till the moment the candle went out. Then I came to realize that staying isolated would just mean stay focused.

Actually I am not as good as you are thinking of me, just jotting down whatever comes up in my mind. You are gonna be the person you want as long as you have a willing heart and taking actions, of course. "Stay foolish; stay hungry." Have a nice day!

Marvelous writing again, i do appreciate. the pleasure of reading is analogue to that of dancing to harmonious music, so elegantly put;  and the tantalizing image of a talented person as you are absorbed in his book under the dim light of candle in a remote part of the world would be such a wonderful material to a great modern artist. Life in Africa could be so dull and so lonely that it is capable of making a person of normal mentality going crazy, yet exceptional person could always make the best out of any difficult situation, or even better than that from a life of comfort. Keep going, my friend, the future will be so promising for a person like you.
