Children‘s Day, Day for Adult as Well

470 views. 2012-6-2 03:25 |

Children like festivals; for they are days of memory of things unforgettable and surprising. There are two festivals throught the year, as far as my observation is concerned, that are most attractive to them: Spring Festival, and the Children’s Day. No kid can reject the excitement of Spring Festival, and no kid can refuse the happiness of Children’s Day.

Children never hide their likes and dislikes. Whatever they want, they will put on their faces or in actions. My elder sister has a kid, a boy, several years old. I have been with him for many times. Whenever he likes and wants something, he would ask his mom for it directly. If not properly satisfied, he would always show his dissatification on his face or in his actions, even refuse to take food, and sometimes even cry. One thing still fresh on my mind is that when he saw a helicopter on TV, very beautiful, he asked his mom for one also. For not disappointing him, his mom asked him first why he needed a helicopter. The answer is really surpring: “I will use the helicopter to protect those boys and girls who are being traded by bad people like sweets.” He answered. One day before there was a TV programme telling people about kid trafic. This request was not satisfied; then he refused to take food for one day, and played with his friends outside the whole day till his mom comforted him with a promise of buying him one in future if possible.

Children try things to get experience. One of my professors in my university told us in class an interesting story about his son. His son is clever, he would like to try things unknown to him, and learn from his mistake. One day when my professor was preparing dinner, his son came to him, demanding him to fry watermelon for the dinner. Surprised at first, he did not tell his son the truth; instead he let his son try by himself. Of course failed, but from then on, he will never fry watermelon in hiswhole life.

Children are brave, care-free, straight-forwarded, open-hearted, just to name a few. However, compared with them, we adult are not really on the moral high ground.

‘We adult reject too much, consult too long, adventure too little, repent too soon, and content ourselves with the mediocrity of successes’.  We adult are smeared too much with the dirty social connections which too often stop us from progresses that would be differences to the world we are in. We compromise too much, we hide too many words of our hearts, and we are so preoccupied with all that meationed here year in and year out, without an end in sight.

On this special day, the Children’s Day, I wish all Children of natural behavior, Children much nearer to the true God than us, the best of all. The future belong to you all, hoping you all would be growing up with all these good qualites unchanged.

You have made a pretty good analysis of children. Hehe. I have a daughter of 20 months. She loves to imitate the behavior of the adult and try every new thing she encountered. She mops the floor, washes the dishes, picks vegetables, cleans the toilet, dismantles everything that could be dismantled, though always making a mess in the house. My wife and I would always give her the freedom to do all of these things so long as they were not detriment to her health and safety. The creativity and curiosity of children shall not be hampered by the intervention of our sophisticated adult.

your elder sister' s kid is so lovely, it seems that he know how to make his pursuit, how wise he is with only a 7 years old baby. yeah, to compare to those kids, we adults have lost so much. we adults think we are right and we are wise than kids, actually not necessarily. we have so many worldly thoughts to bury our nature everywhere, lost our hoesty nowhere. that;s a pity to be an adult. what a nice world we all keep a childlike heart and kee a childlike relationship, impossible certainly, a childfish thoight again.hehe

Yeah,we are adult, pulled up by so many connections, unable to behave like a kid of nature and God. That's why so many of us are unhappy and frustrated.
