Last weekend, in the residential quarter I live, nine license plates were taken away unscrupulously at late night when all people had been asleep, both the front and the rear of cars. The next moring, all the car owners were shocked at the scrips rested upon the windscreen wipers, saying the stealage is callable with the conditions that they offer cash. but so far as I konw, none of the owners have found theirs yet. we just hope the policemen can exert all their strength on this case. it would be caught on the road without plates. this is really crazy. now theif have developed this new means, they used to smash windows of the cars to get what is inside, how could they live peacefully with such a wicked crime on their conscience? furthmore, my neighbours are increasingly worried that the thief might take the licenses plates out of the neighourhood and sell to owers of illegal cars. now a few days are gone, some of the people are about to claim the loss on the newspaper.

- We all know that we cannot rely on the local police to prevent and investigate petty crimes like these. They just don't care. The neighbors would have to come together and prevent the thieves from getting what they want. In our town, we group together to install CTV cameras watching the street for 24 hours everyday. Anything happens, we can always see who did it. You can also install a cheap camera to your computer and watch the street. If anybody go near your car, the alarm would sound itself and it only costs about less than Rmb100. I have installed one and it is working wonderfully.
The breaking of car glass windows for stealing is happening more often now because it is easy to steal from cars and they may even steal your whole car.

- If the police don't do anything about the crime, the local residents should take the matters into their own hands in order to live with a peaceful mind.
