May 18th is a day, we call it customer's day in our insurance industry,   every year our company works out a timely updating of distinctive services.  for instance, we made a commitment to settle the claim within one hour after  customers submitted a claim to PICC last year, but that was for loss below ten thousand. and this year the damned company launched a campaign, asking us oridnary workers in claim department to work an extra hour for customers,  what I couldn't stand for is that customer day starts from May 18th and ends at August 18th, this means we are expected to work overtime during this period of time, now we can't go home at a regular hour and we have to sit until half past seven in the afternoon.

Over the past one month,  only a handful of industrious colleagues made it relunctantly,  and it was not seen as a big deal by us, but the Thursday department meeting set us on fire then, our manager almost struck the table and asked us to do so,    which was largely due to the awkward ranking of our company in the 36 provincial-level companies, our manager couldn't accepct our position in the ranking. In fact,  the central company in Beijing will timely issue a professional analysis on the lastest works we do and rank all companies across china according to some important factors---quantity, quality,efficiency and service,customer complaints, cost control etc.   so you see, the Thursday meeting is a nightmare for just about every reason,  even if you have no case in hand, you have done all the daily works, you still can't leave office until 7:30. and in fact,  some of workers do need to work overtime, they have a mountain of cases to be done,. some need no,  They can actually complete their cases puntually, so having them work an extra hour becomes kind of formalism,  what else should they do? playing games on computer or chatting online?

I personally think the company management should be smart and flexible, so what significance does it have to keep workers unneccessary to work overtime in the office? besides right now it is already realized for some of logistic personnels to work at home with VPN remote contronl.  maybe the leader just wants to make it look euqal.    so in the next couple of weeks, I will probably come to dioenglish more often than usual.
