"Making Better Decisions"

This or That!

All of us make hundreds of choices every day. As a college student, it can drive you crazy how many decisions you have to make in a given day. But all decisions are not created equal. Most choices have no right or wrong attached to them -- like what you wear or what you eat. But we always face decisions that carry a little more weight -- like whether or not you should cheat on a test that could help you pass a tough professor's course.

I'm sure you can think of many other decisions (much tougher than cheating) that you've faced as a student. You don't want to do wrong, and you don't want to cause others to do wrong, so what do you do when a situation is not so cut and dry? I suggest you ask yourself the following questions:

Does it help me be a good example for others?

Am I thinking only of myself, or do I truly care about the other person(s) involved?

Does it help me do my best?

Is it against a specific command in Scripture and would it caused me to sin?

Is it the best and most beneficial course of action?

Am I acting lovingly or selfishly?

Will it cause someone else to sin?

Does it glorify God?

If you're really concerned about "doing the right thing," you can't go wrong applying each of these questions to your next tough decision. This short exercise can be major blessing in your life if you take it to heart, and it can help you avoid a lot of unnecessary pain. And quite frankly, as a student, do you really need more emotional pain in your life right now?

Look forward to much more information on this topic from RealWorld University. We'll be bringing you information, ideas, and strategies from some of the world's leading experts and authorities in this field and many others. We believe that experience may be a good teacher, but other people's experience is a better teacher. Our motto at RWU is, "The key to wisdom is knowing where to look for the answers." Thanks for dropping by RealWorld University. Come back soon, and tell a friend. Remember to live purposefully. God bless!
