The Introspection of Unemployment

420 views. 2009-4-3 16:21 |

These days, workers whatever do mannul work or work in the office concern more about the problem of employment. Jobless of our friends and colleagues is frequently staged everyday. When we meet, the usual chinese greeting words 'Have you had dinner?' has changed to 'are you still working?'
Workers are always working under the shadow of being laid-off which boost them to have to work harder than before to relief the possibility of being fired. This is human nature on the occasion when facing crisis around them.
However, at last the unemployed workers only occupy a small ratio in the whole employment compared with huge labor market.
One of the effective measures to cut costs for a company, especially in a financial crisisis, is to fire employees. Those who contribute less profits or interests to the company are always the first to be considered. In some extent, the profits a employee contibute to the company is disproportionate to the possibility to be fired.
When complaining about being laid-off, one thus should thinks first that how many contributions you have made for your company. Though there's some complex and unpredicable changes, for example the adjustment of compony strategies or bankrupt etc., most of the workers being laid-off is due to the lack of a special skill without which projects or operations will not be able to proceed and no one can replace. It is just like a chain that you are one of the loops and without you the chain will be broken. The importance of your work will be fully considered by the management and you are no longer worrying about being laid-off.
Any one who are still doing a job that it will be easily replaced by others should, therefore, reconsider whether it is time to develop a new skill to fight against the risk of being laid-off.
