As it is admittedly acknowledged and cannot be denied that English has been regarded by people all over the world as a world communication tool, however, there is another interesting phenomenon that an increasing people especially the college students became to mastering more than one foreign languages especially in Shanghai due to the drastic job hunting competition.

It’s obvious that the more languages you can understand reflects your observing capability as well as your high culture level, because of that, some companies, particularly the world class companies, put forward a higher requirement on the languages understanding in the procedure of new employees’ hiring, actually, such a requirement is to make the company easier to hire people who are more quickly to adapt themselves into another completely new culture working environment rather than just figuring out people who got the Languages Learning talent.

However, people who want to work in better companies make themselves meet such a requirement not because the culture reason but the higher positions and salaries, in this sense, they treated the languages level, in another words, the certificate of Foreign Languages Examinations as their goals rather the adaption ability of foreign environment, as a result, even they got the certificates and hired by these companies, there is a really high likelihood that they cannot adapt themselves into such a foreign environment so quickly.

Therefore, there comes a question, “how many languages should we study?” in my viewpoint, it’s not because of the number of Foreign Languages certificates that you are holding that you are hired by these ideal companies, but due to the capability that you can put yourself quickly into these foreign cultures.
