The end of that liver cancer patient

Hot 2824 views. 2014-5-9 21:57 | cancer

Before the operation, we took a X-ray of his chest. Unfortunately, we found many separated lesions in his lung, which most likely comes from liver,  we called it metastasis. So, undoubtedly, he lost the opportunity for operation. If he could get nothing cure and just go home, I bet he couldnot live more than 1 year.
We recommended another method to the patient, TACE, arterial embolish, a palliative therapy. Which may prolong life for the patient, although the effect is not so good. So, today, the patient moved to another ward.
From beginning to end, the patient is calm to face the liver cancer. I couldnot find any fear from his eye, only I could feel is the desire for living. Maybe people when they face this situation, they would grasp every possible chance to survive, and death is not so terrible in their eye at this time. But everytime after I told him the bad news I would feel so sorry in my mind, after all, He is still young, and  his family need him to support.
The patient has gone, I know I would never see him again, hope god can bless him.

Cherish life, to keep fitness, lead a good and healthy lifetyle.
Only at the time we got something lost, do we feel the urgency of importance being existing.

Metastatic cancer is likely to be fatal because the cancer cells have already spread to other parts of the body. This makes treatment complicated as the cancer is no longer centralized. In fact, there is no effective cure. Medical science still has some way to go before treatment for cancer is found.

The painful reality is that we all have to learn from these unfortunate patients. Have regular checkups and know about the prevention of cancer. Don't delay treatment. Once it has spread then it would be too late.

You seem to be able to calm the patients and help them. In such helpless situations words of comfort are the best consolation for the patient. Keep up the good work.
