some common sense for antibiotics

Just as I said last time, most Chinese people believe in antibiotics so much. In most clinics, people can easily be injected antibiotics, as time goes on, there is a concept existing in people' mind that no matter what type of diseases, which could be cured by antibiotics. And this leads doctors in clinic would inject antibiotics to people no matter what diseases, cause they can own money through it, for most of the antibiotics are expensive.
A very typical example is that when people get a cold or a cough, they will buy antibiotics pills or directly inject it. Actually, for more than 90% of the cold, they are caused by virus. Here, we should make clear that antibiotics just effective to bacteria, and totally useless to virus. So, for most of the cold, we could say antibiotics is useless for the patient. Actually, when you get a cold ,the best way is to drink more hot water and fruit, or take some exercise to enhance your body. Unless you have a fever, you need take some medicine to drop your body temperature, but absolutely not antibiotics. I once had a diarrhea and go to pharmacy to buy some medicine, at first, nurse recommended some Chinese medicine to me, then she said it's better to add a kind of antibiotics, which was the third generation of antibiotics. We even dont use it so casually in hospital, because it's superior antibiotics. But we could by it in the pharmacy so easily and just use it as a very common drug. For the nurse in the pharmacy, they don't care too much about whether it's useful or not to the patient and they don't worry about consequences caused by antibiotics abuse. They only care about money. On the other hand, most people they don't know the exact function of antibiotics, they just believe it and they would be willing to buy it.
So, I think it's time for our government to take some measures to supervise the antibiotics, and prevent antibiotics abuse. But the most important is that we should try to make ordinary people have a right view to antibiotics, and they could judge by themselves. So, it's essential for students in primary or middle school have some basic medical knowdage, which is lack for the current students.
