Day 1 in Sanya: Sunshine, beach, and seafood

Looking  out of the car’s window, I was dizzy with delight, anticipation fizzing in my body like champagne bubbles. Finally we were in Sanya. A whole month’s preparation and waiting, and finally we were here! It’s quite dark now, but I could still hear the waves lapping lazily against the shore. A kind of soothing tranquility was in the air, perfuming it like the bouquet of the wine. I took a deep breath, letting myself drowning in the profound smell of the sea.

However the C-trip driver’s words cooled my zest down a little. Our hotel was located in a very isolated place---the lack of decent transport was a great disadvantage. He even suggested us changing another one. The reasons why I chose Marina Spa Hotel were about two: First, it has a large bathtub on the balcony. The temptation of enjoying the seascape outside the window while taking a soothing bath was just too great to resist. Second, it has an all in one PC. Since my husband could not survive one day without surfing the internet, it could save us a lot troubles of bring laptop in this trip.

In my mind, I told myself that I would not let anyone ruin this trip. There was shuttle bus to the downtown, so I was pretty sure we could make a do. However my husband’s mood was already darkened by the driver’s words and he started pouting. What an incredible creature he is!

After checked in, as soon as we opened our room, all the doubts and suspicions melt away.  The bathtub was proudly shining and inviting, and the all-in-one PC was a 49-incher, very modern and sleek. Like a child at amusement park, or an adventurer opening the sealed door to a room of treasure, my husband’s eyes were wide with delight when he played with the PC. All the complaints were completely forgotten.

The hotel is near a small quay, so the view of sea outside the window was not as enchanting as I expected. But it offered us a different view of the sea with loose rollers coming by and occasionally the ship's horns booming out.

The next morning, I awakened earlier than usual. The soft morning light, filtered through curtains, gleamed on the curve of my husband's shoulder. I savored this moment, a small, quiet oasis of happiness. Lying cradled in this big bed,  with the rest of the world held at bay, somehow everything seemed so perfectly relaxing.

Today was all about relaxing. Even the air was filled with a kind of leisure and aimless smell. We went to dadonghai, and spent most of day hanging around on the beach. Swimming, walking, reading or just sitting under the sun. The setting sun bathed everything in golden light. Details were crystal clear, but oddly detached. Time was moving on, but I felt as if we were enclosed in a bubble where everything stood still.

How could we come to Sanya without enjoying the seafood? But I must say the famous Mingrun Seafood really let us down. The same restaurant, the same seafood, however those feelings were gone alone with the delicious flavor we enjoyed last time. Perhaps such savor can only linger in our memories. And in reality over-publicity just easily killed it. Everything was down here except the price was rock high.  At night, we went to the first market where we enjoyed another marvelous dinner. As shabby as these sidewall booth were, they produced really great meals. After dinner, we were so full that we had to take a long walk along the seaside.

The first day in Sanya was ended in peace. How time flied without knowing!

This hotel doesn't have private beach, so we couldn't just hang around all day in the neighourhood. but every hour there was a shuttle bus to summer plaza, so it didn't cause a lot of troubles. except that, everything about this hotel is quite satisfactory.
