Nightmare Bosses

367 views. 2009-10-29 16:33 |Individual Classification:Reflection|

He/she can easily make your life miserable or at least make your work days unbearable. The tragic irony is that you still don’t want to make him/her an enemy no matter what a hell he/she has already made you into. He/she is Mr. Boss man, the one who hold all the chips in your relationships, and the one who can determine your future.

I’ve heard too many complaints from my friends about the persons they are reporting to. They are either too callous to their employee’s problems, or too picky at every detail the others have done.  Just as there is a myriad of nightmare bosses, there are also many ways to deal with these workplace terrors. The following are some tips, if you have second opinions, please feel free to make comments.

Mr. Perfect Man

Do you know what’s like to work for someone who is critical of every thing you have done? No matter how hard you have tried, nothing can make him satisfy. The reports you make is either too long or too short. If the context is Ok, there must be something wrong with the front. Sooner or later your confidence will be melt away under that pressure.

How to deal: Pay more attentions to the details of your work. And bombard this person with emails, notes, and reports. This might leave him no time for his picking behavior. The most important is: Do not take his criticism too seriously. Sometimes it’s just the way he shows off his power.

Mr. Dude Manager

Some supervisors like to hit on every girl around him. Don’t worry. Most of bosses know better to break the rule and they won’t make any serious move.

How to deal: Take the flirt thing lightly and keep your distance. Let this person know you are not available. Talk about your boyfriend, or husband if opportunity arise. If he doesn’t take the hint and his behavior already borders on sexual harassment, consider to change your job.

Mr. Bird-brained Manager

Chances are your workload would double if you’ve encountered a bird-brained manager. They always don’t know exactly what they want. This minute they gave you an order, and the next minute they denied them and gave you another one.

How to deal: Follow up the working instruction and figure out what exactly he needed. Present summaries with several alternatives for action, and try to use simple words.

it can be very annoying to work for someone so commanding. but look at the bright side, if something goes wrong, he can't blame you for that because you just follow his order

haha.. that's also the time she tries to get away from it. Personally I think she doesn;t make good decisions, or she's not good at communication as she's a stubbon one..~ however it's fine. as you said to look on the bright side. I'll think of it a good training for me! ha ~ my skill of managing my boss will be improved hopefully~:P
