The ocean always has a hypnotic effect on me. All of my worries would be washed away even I was doing nothing more than watching the waves and listening to the muted roar of water coming in and going out. For me this trip should be a perfect escape rather than a restless adventure.  Therefore the travel package of 3d/2n Manukan Island Resort could not be better for me.   

The resort is located on Manukan Island in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. At 8:30 in the morning, we took the first ferry at Sutera Harbour Ferry Terminal to Manukan Island. The sky was crystal clear, and the white gulls swooped in and out of my vision. For a moment I was just sat on the boat, drinking in the atmosphere.

The ocean had a hypnotic effect. I gave in to it without a struggle.

Finally we made there! We made a reservation of beach front lodge—double storey there. The wooden cabin was beautifully structured, and the decorations were tasteful and fairly whispered “serenity”. It was better than we expected.

As soon as we entered our room, I found six bottom waters on the table. Six! We had thought drinking water must be expensive in this island, therefore last night we went to the market and bought a lot of bottom waters. Thinking about so many troubles we had taken to bring those damn waters here, I really wanted to scream, or giggle, or both.

Living Room on the first floor: Comfortable and commodious. I especially love this lamp. It gave romantic sparkles to the whole place. The only problem was that it offered little privacy. If we wanted to change our cloth, we needed to go upstairs or went to the bathroom.

Bedroom on the second floor has two queen beds with an attached Balcony. It was furnished in Malay style. There was something exotic, something peaceful about this place. Since there was no toilet on the second floor, we had to go downstairs to take care of business at night. Works for me, every time I went downstairs in the midnight, I pictured myself as heroine in some ghost movie.

Hillside Lodge - Double Storey is specially offered for the couple on honeymoon. It has both indoor and outdoor bath. Sounds very romantic, isn’t it?

In Malaysia, most of people could speak fluent English. I felt embarrassed about my broken English. After so many years of hard learning, my oral English is not as good as a luggage boy here. What a shame! When I picked up the phone and told room service that I needed some cloth racks, I suddenly forgot about the exact words. I was stuck there, and I explained her in my blurring words that I needed something to hang my cloth. Thank God, she actually got what I meant.

After tidied up, we went to beach BBQ.  It's really great, much better than the one we tried later in Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort.
