Redang, I See You-----Part 1

Sometimes you have to go through hell before you get to heaven. Redang Island is a dream land where even the haze between the earth and the heaven has thinned, a place where you could walk, think and finally would lose yourself in that relentless, eternal surge of water.  Although I didn’t actually go through hell to reach such a wonderland, still I had my prices to pay.  However, as soon as I set my eyes on the breath-taking view of its lovely beach, all the troubles and exhaustions melt away---it was really a worthwhile trip!

Room Service

We woke up around 4:00 am that morning to catch early flight to Kuala Terengganu, which meant we had not quite three hours of sleep. Certainly I felt grumpy, but determinedly I pushed the mood away. I couldn’t let lack of sleep ruin this day, could I?

Besides, I had added bonus. Since it was too early to have breakfast at restaurant, the hotel was kind enough to arrange us early breakfast. Therefore for the first time of my life, I had breakfast in my room and it was really delicious.

Seasick

Before this trip, I never thought that I would suffer from Seasick. I was not saying that I had many experience of see sailing, but for the several times I had I never met with such problems. So I thought this time would be no exception. It took two hours on the jerry to reach Redang Island. I was Ok for the first hour, however after flipping several pages of my book, a wave of sickness suddenly swept over my whole body. I tried to fight it off but the nausea was overwhelming. My throat was on fire, my head was throbbing, and I was at the very threatening point of throwing up in public. By sheer willpower, I sat there without vomiting up all I had eaten for it would be too embarrassing and annoying. “Are you Ok? You are chalk white!” I heard S’s voice, but it seemed she was in a thousand miles away. “Seasick, I think.” I managed to say. I put my head on her lap and felt a little better. But still every move was torture and the way it was hurting, I wished my head would fall off. Thank God, we finally arrived at the terminal.

Love at the first sight

I didn’t know whether the welcome drinking had the magic healing power or the profound smell of sea did. As soon as I set my foot at Laguna Redang Resort, I felt much better, with no nausea at all, and only a little light-head. We took full board package so we didn't need to worry about meals because they were included in the package and provided by the resort. After a short break, we headed to the restaurant. The view outside of the window actually took our breath away.

The water shimmied and glittered like thousands of diamonds as it rolled to the shore. For a moment, I was mesmerized as I stared at the dancing sparkles on the tips of waves. I wish I could stretch the time to its utmost limits, to spend the hot, lazy days lying on the beach, doing nothing more actively than reading, dreaming and staring at the water.

The meals were good, though nothing too fancy. The room was spacious enough for 2 persons, comfortable enough and modernly furnished.

Snorkeling Trips

Arranged by the resort, we took on snorkeling trip to the nearby bay. Nothing could be more exciting than swimming with fishes in the warm, hypothetic waters. As if by prior agreement, both S and I chose one-piece bathing suit to wear. My dear co-workers, who were dying to see S in Bikini, was written with naked disappointment all over their faces. Men!  What can I say?

End of day

It was a beautiful night, moonless and cloudless, and the stars were brighter than I had seen them in years, their light refracted on the waves like countless diamonds. We were trotting up the beach, doing our own exploring. One hour later, exhaustion finally seeped in. But my co-workers were still excited, with no desire of returning. Oh, God. I woke up around 4 in the morning, taking one hour’s flight, surviving from two hours’ hell of seasick, then drank enough sea waters to make my stomach swell during snorkeling trip ( it's something I hated to remember), I was tired and sore all over, and every joint in my body was screaming in protest. What are these people made up? Iron? Ok Guys, I passed. It would be a miracle if I could summon enough energy to crawl back to my nest. So I left, but I never thought my early exit would ignite so many wild stories
