Believe it or not, I don't believe anyway

926 views. 2011-8-9 12:56 |Individual Classification:Reflection|

When we were still young and innocent, we believe pretty much about anything. We believe that if we don’t behave well, a giant wolf would come at midnight and snatch us away. We believe that every prince and princess does have a happily-together-forever ending and pretty fairies live in the center of every flower and if we try really hard, we would grow up to be a superman or superwoman.

Later, we believe that unemployment and economic depression only exist in other countries, we thought if we studied hard and graduated from the university, we could find a dreamy job and our future would be secured. We trusted the government, the policemen, the authority, believed that their job was to protect us and keep us safe. We even, once believed that one day, in that not faraway future, the communism would be realized and everyone would lead a happy-go-lucky life.

The aging process is long and painful. We paid a high price for what was once our young and believing head. Again and again, we are forced to witness contrary evidences to shake our trust. A hard-to-get university certificate might be nothing comparing to well-connects or a promising background. Forever usually turns out to be too long in face of love and friendship. Then not surprisingly, we find that the government, the authority might not always stand by our side.

Consequently we start to doubt pretty much about everything. Stop accusing us of buying those “Rumors” from the internet. It’s simply our self-protection mechanism working—by accepting the most far-fetched stories, we’ve toughed us for the worst. Really, it’s hurt too much to be fooled again and again with stories like Hide-and-Seek, like this time Believe-it-or-not. Belief has never been strong enough to withstand betray, it takes a long time to rebuild and only seconds for it to melt away.

The government seems still not get it--- it’s never been about the bullet train wreck itself. Accident happens, human make mistakes. A tragedy, no matter how gut-wrenching it is, will eventually be forgiven. What really has chilled us to the bones is the cover-up, or any signs of cover-ups. If we can’t count on the government and the authority in crisis, who we could turn to? Yes, on the material side, our life might have been improved, but on the spiritual side, it’s just getting worse. It’s not enough to get our mouths feed while our brains are starving, starving for the truth, starving for the sense of security.

Honestly, I never understand about so called Hexie (Harmonized). We lived in an information bombarded era. Too many information for us to digest, and we usually don't get a clue to tell which is true, which is just another wild story. We might have doubts, but we can never be sure. However once Harmonized, we can almost immediately hear a voice shouting:” That’s the truth you want!”

Blog posts can be erased, sensitive words can be Harmonized. But the truth is always out there. Unless there is way to root out the internet, cut off the traffic, force everything back to the time where communication could only be carried within walking distance, so why bother?

society develops as technology does, and so does democracy. it's a general trend which no one can stop. one of the basic rights we are supposed to have is the freedom of speech and press. we just want the truth, and covering up will never be effective. we may not know the truth for the time being, but we can feel and sense it. and eventually it will come to light.

i just hope the democracy can develop with the society.  unfortunately, on many ways i think it's still lagging behind.

I can't understand that if the government stop people's talking and erase some words, people don't know what is the truth. No one is fool, so they should learn to deal with the events in front of us.

you got me! i usually don't do heavy stuff, i always prefer light reading and i am against almost anything politics-related. once a man asked me: what you are writing in your blog anyway? he is a typic alpha male, so i answered nothing you would be interested. all female stuffs, liking shoppings, haircuts, raising kids and gossips. he looked pretty disgusted. but sometimes, something like this tradgy popping up, and so big that i just can't ignore. i will write something as sharp as i could, to vent ill feelings, to complaint, to let me feel---even just a bit--better.
