Job hunting season

521 views. 2011-12-23 17:08 |Individual Classification:Reflection|

The following is an old diary of mine, written on 2008-2-25:

It seems to be a job hunting season. Everyone around me is considering to change job wholeheartedly, or halfheartedly.

Ok, I admit that I am an insecure freak. Though P assured me no need to worry about reorganization, and he would try his best to make me stay as department secretary after consodation, I still sent my CV to several companies to try my luck. The other girls decided to wait and see which way the cat jumps, but I preferred to take the action before things turned real ugly. Perhaps I am meeting trouble halfway, but I need to be sure where my next pay check coming from, I mean 100% assure.

I was summoned for an interview by MPS soon after I sent out my resume. It came so quickly that I barely had time to prepare. But it was not bad on the whole, considering the fact that I haven’t been interviewed for ages.

The company is located in the faraway suburb. It took me some troubles to get there. Perhaps the idea of spending two hours to get to the office everyday thwarted me a little, or perhaps I am not so desperate to need a job, I didn’t try my best during the interview.

I was asked to fill some table, take an IQ test and a key in test, have a face-to-face talk with HR, and then translate a technical document. I certainly not focused enough during key-in test, and messed up some technical terms during the translation. When I was asked about “What’s my idea job?” by HR, I paused a little before I gave her a quite routine answer. My idea job? It’s a secret buried in my heart. Before I really achieved something, I would never dare to speak it out. There is a long, long way to go before I reached the hem of my dreamland.

I was informed that I had past preliminary appraisal, and there would be a second one tomorrow. Honestly, I am not prepared. It’s not easy for a person at my age to start from zero at a new place. Though I am tortured between my desires to have a fresh start and just hang in there, from my bottom of my heart I know it’s time to move on. Whatever the results, I’ll chance the ducks and have a better try.

Job is like marriage. The one you don't have seems better.
Job is like marriage. The one you are famillar with is safer.

when i was young, i once submitted my letter of resignation. however, it was "kindly"rejected. now it is kinda too old to think of quitting the current job. but i always admire those who have the guts to give their boss the sack.

A stable career is rare to be found. You are lucky to have one, but your boss is luckier to have a good employee like you. Certainly he would not let you go.

A well balance between carreer and family is important for everyone. it's hard though, because both are so demanding and requires a lot of efforts.
