Politics has never been my thing. Call me naïve, but I’ve been raised up with stories of the black and white, I don’t get much about the grey area, but politics, in any country, is nothing but grey. Left wing here, right wing there, or middle of the road---it’s a wonder any politician could walk straight. Another thing I don’t like politics is you could never get to the truth. Life is complicate enough, but politics is super-master of all the complications combine. The truth is always out there, wrapping up with layers after layers of lies, far from anyone’s reach. Really, what a P word!
That’s why when my husband told me the Big News of today, I just gave him a shrug. Anything could happen in politics, so what’s next? I vaguely remember some days ago in Chongqing, on the way to my office, the taxi driver, a typical Chongqing man, talked enthusiastically all the way about their beloved Mayor and his politics, what he had done for the people: low-rent housing, public construction and so on. I just wonder what he would react to this news, when the same person he admired so much has now become a murder suspect.
Perhaps Honor and Politics just aren't words you would hear in the same sentence. A political life could hardly an honorable one. In such a complicate word full of lies, one simply needs to take all means, fair or foul, to climb up. And when things got ugly, they are all willing to sell out the country to protect their own interests.
Nothing is clear behind the walls, expect two white marble lions in front of the door.
