Myrules World

Hot 31693 views. 2013-9-24 16:18 |Individual Classification:Mummy's Whisper

I’ve always been asked about the same question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” it’s a bit annoying because I really have no idea. This Saturday, Mum and Dad took me to Myrules World ---a place of wonder for me to figure out the answer---That’s in Mummy’s words, however, I doubted that.

When we arrived there I already dozed off in the car.

“Come on, it must be fun.” I heard Dad said.

“No, I wanna sleep.” I stamped my foot and whined.

“It’s really a great place, and I’m sure you could have a lot of funs here. What do you want to be?” Mummy asked in enthusiasm.

Aha, that question again. “I only want a job where I can sleep.” I said.

Mummy smiled and said: “Maybe you can find one. Hurry up.”

Then we stepped into a crowded building. Many children already there, lining up with their parents, waited for access.

Looking at one after another little faces all beaming with excitement, vaguely I thought “Maybe this place was not bad”.

Finally we stepped into Myrules World. Like the streets outside, there were bank, hospital, clinic, construction site, shops, restaurant but something was strange about this bustling street, I couldn’t put my finger on where, but there was something definitely odd.

Children scattered around, everywhere to be seen.

“So many people. How about the fire station?” I heard mum said.

“Not a chance, already full” Dad said.

What they were talking about? I was not very sure. So I just kept silence. I didn’t want to look fool, definitely not.

“Hi, there.” Mum led me to a building around the corner and asked me to wait on the front door.

“Let’s try dentist first, shall we?” she kneeled down so she could look at my eyes when she talked. I liked her doing that.

Curiously I looked inside through the French windows and found this building seemed to be a dental clinic. I said seemed because although everything looked like real---the dental chair, the dentures on the shelves, everything--- but I just knew actually they were not, especially after I found the man lying on the dental chair was not a man at all, but a dummy with open mouth.

“See, look at that man. He must have some bad teeth, you can pull them out. How cool!” Mummy said.

“But he is not real.” I murmured.

“You can pretend that he is”. Mum continued.

I hesitated, biting my teeth, finally I said”But I don’t know how.”

“Hi, don’t worry. Perhaps you would hold a consultation first to see whether it is a necessary. Perhaps at last you just decide to brush his teeth.”

Mum finally cheered me up, and I couldn’t wait to “be” a dentist.

After Dentist, I became an Emergency Physician, then a security guard for cash carrier, and the last one: a post boy. I had great funs but the answer to that particular question was still not found. I enjoyed being a dentist. I didn’t pull any teeth out, but I got a glimpse at a bad tooth, with blood all over, quite disgusting. It’s also cool to be an Emergency Physician.  We were trained to do EMT, or EMR? Any way, we even got on a 120 bus! Mum looked aghast when I accidently pulled the dummy’s (it was supposed to be the man we saved) head out, since he was not real, I guess it won’t hurt. Just after I decided that I want to be an Emergency Physician, I tried cash transit security guard. Wow, super cool, I should say, the gun, the helmet, and the vest. But I don’t like marching up---not at all. So I guess I’d better pass this one. As for post boy, I should say I like it the least. First, the cloth is too thick. Second, too much walk.

There are so many occupations I haven’t tried. Mum wanted me to be the captain of airplane because she liked the uniform a lot. I didn’t like it; in fact, I thought the sunglass was rather stupid. But I liked their trolley cases. However, too many kids lining up for this job, we had to give up.

One kid told me it’s also fun to be an Archaeologist, but we had not enough time. For each job I got five bulks. But mum told me in real world, you got different paid for different job.

In the end, I still don’t know what I want to be. Mum said no hurry for that. I would know when the time is right. I guess she is right.

It is good to expose the young to different things when they were young because some children may develop their interests at an early age, which would be beneficial.

It's fun reading this blog of yours. really good idea to construct such a park, or rather, myrules world. even for older kids, it will be helpful to have this kind of hands-on experience before they finally decide in what direction they would go in the future.

Yes, I can't agree with you more. No matter my son found his direction or not, this visit was difinitely more than a simple cosplay experience.
