If there is something that I could feel confident about, I might say “Hmmm, I am not bad at writing.” Of course here the ‘writing’ is not ‘writing a novel’ kind of writing. My repertoire includes nothing beyond reports, newsletters, website copywriting and, aha perhaps, English Blogging.

Last Thursday I ran into our GM at a lecture organized by Staff Club. As soon as she saw me, she said to me with a smile “Good work!”  I knew she meant the articles I wrote for Staff club, but still I was caught off guard by this unexpected comment.  Basically I work at the bottom of the ladder, and I had even doubted whether she could recognize me from the crowd.

At that moment, I realize that my writing skills perhaps have already gained a few chips for me in the company.  All this started from a small accident. At first I was even not a Staff Club member.  Last year when the club was organizing an event, the Chairman asked me if I could do him a favor---to prepare an agenda for that event.  It’s bit hurry, and at that time there were not many free hands around.  He had expected nothing more than a formatted agenda in our never-changed simple style. However I gave it a second thought. It’s for staff club, no need to be that business like. So I made it to be a beautiful invitation, decorated with colorful balloons.  The chairman was more than satisfied. The next thing he did was to recruit me. And soon before I realized, I have been sole responsible for all the club writings

It’s not an easy job. For every event staff club has organized, I have to prepare H5 introduction, Email Invitation, Newsletter and sometimes articles in Wechat platform.  If writing is not happened to my hobby, I would certainly cry it off as possible as I could. After all, all these are just add on duties. Still I bit the bullet and hang it on.  Every time when I feel tired and was annoyed by the question:  “What are all those troubles for? “, I told myself to take it as an opportunity to learn, to polish my skills. My efforts have been paid off.  Besides my writing skills have been recognized around the company, I have learned a lot editing and writing skills.  That’s what matters, right?
