Good Omens

430 views. 2018-5-28 14:23 |Individual Classification:Daily Life

I won the contest in EMF’s English Karaoke. Thank god, here “Karaoke” has nothing to do with singing, in that case I would stand no chance at all, fortunately here it actually means “Mimic Writing.”—that’s probably the only thing I have confidence with.

However, I’ve learned long time ago that English writing is a lonely journey. It’s better to seek rewards in its process—the pure pleasure of writing itself, the release of the burden of your thoughts and don’t care about how the others would react to your writing—because in most cases there is just none.

That’s how I decide to treat English Karaoke. Instead of as a contest, it’s an inseparable part of my daily learning, probably also my favorite part. It helps me to better understand what I’ve learned and makes something out of it to linger longer in my poor memories.

Therefore, it really came as a great surprise when I saw one of my writings showing up in today’s EMF. For that, I’m blessed and appreciated.

I know there is no such thing as omen. Destiny doesn’t send us herald. She is too wise or too cruel for that. However, I want it to be a sign of something good to happen. Tomorrow, my husband will be in the hospital. We both need that.

Here’s today’s Karaoke—reading review on Letter from a Strange Woman:

That is an accidental encounter, in which he gives her a caressing and alluring glance like he always does in front of a woman, unveiling her lifetime of hopeless waiting. Neither her mother, strict and gloomy, nor Mr. R, ardent and forgetful, wants to send her into this path of no return, but both play an important role in her tragedy. Her mother’s longtime neglect leaves her starving for the slightest tenderness, while R, with his all-embracing but heartless smile of a born seducer, draws her like the fire to the moth. For her, R. is the whole world, everything about life, whereas for R., she is just one of many, a nameless partner in a chance encounter.
