Dying to survive

Hot 2995 views. 2020-3-5 16:50 |Individual Classification:Daily Life

March 4th saw another new confirmed case in Huaxi hospital, which broke the record of zero increase of infected patient in Chengdu within 12 days. The point is, I happened to go to Huaxi on March 4th. You see, the fate always has a way of surprising me. BUT, if she thought I would feel prey to panic because of that, she was wrong.

It is just a bit frustrating. Yesterday, when I got caught up in a long-time-no-see traffic jam, when I queued up for Huaxi’s shuttle bus (you need to take a shuttle bus from parking lot to the hospital), I seriously felt that everything would soon go back to the normal.

Perhaps not that soon.

The reason why I took the risks of coming to Huaxi is to purchase my drugs. It’s pretty damn expensive drugs, around 20000 yuan per month last year, and this year it dropped to 13000 but still it is a burden for the most of the families. Our health social security is supposed to cover part of it from this year, however, until now no official procedure is announced. According to the news from Chengdu health care security administration, we finally could claim the refund but we need to go to the hospital to get our case confirmed. I happen to run out of my drugs, in that case I have to go to Huaxi for my next purchase.

However, when I arrived at Huaxi, I was informed that they haven’t received any notice yet and their system still couldn’t report our cases.

Why didn’t I feel surprised?

Another patient from Meishan was about to take the train to Huaxi, so I told her not to come. From the screen, I could feel her anger and helplessness.

Perhaps you would think it is not a big deal, we could eventually get our refund anyway. Because of coronavirus, everything has a good reason to postpone. But I know some patients who already felt apart under the huge financial burden, they sold their houses, sold their cars, sold everything. “Dying to survive” is not just a movie.

I’ve always saved for raining days, and I can still afford my bill. But for many, they simply can’t.

Life is never easy. I guess we need to learn to reconcile with ourselves sometimes.

The good news is that you can afford the medical costs which is not something for ordinary people to undertake. The social security system is not that sound. So many of us just can pay off the bill for some minor illness. When it comes to severe illnesses we have no ideas unless we have some commercial insurance policies.

It would be an unforgettable memory for everyone. Many factories and shops, industries and workers are now still facing the problem of shutdown. Though it gradually goes to be better, it has not come to normal yet. Thus the economy at present suffers a lot.

May everything goes well.
