American freedom

I am not interested in politics and I am not intended to tell you which systems are inferior or superior.
I have never been to America.
All my feelings regarding America are from educations, news, or other channels from others including stories.
Most Chinese including me think American is a nation of freedom and democracy, where is their excluding me dreaming land.
Recently a new from puzzled me a lot.
A troubled man, Daniel James Murray, 36, was arrested and accused of planning U.S. President Barack Obama murder. He did nothing but closed his bank account opened recently and complained and delivered a rambling discourse on the probability of economic and social disorder, ending with “We are on a mission to kill the president of the United States”.
I had thought its false news against America at the very beginning.
But I was wrong this time when I read the news from Yahoo news. If it happened in China today, all people including bank tellers would think him either insane or joking, not mentioning to call police. What’s wrong with America famous for its freedom and democracy? Is it too frail to bear this kind of speech? Any privilege abuse involved?
Now I seemed to understand American freedom a little.
Now I seemed to believe what my friend told me earlier possible that you might be dismissed in America if you call your boss’ names.
A country does not have permanent friends, only permanent interests.
It is right there.

- while ,when the topic comes to America,there is hot dipute,but in my opinon ,America is far better than most contries in democracy,including china,there are numerous and varied examples,in china ,if some top official are wanna somebody's life,it is conducted secretly,you even never hear any shortcut about it ,so if you complain about this thing,what about the cruel thing you will never know in other counties?

but i kind of hold a different opinion with you for i dun think it's so big an issue involving American FREEDOM or DEMOCRACY.
u know, everything goes in comparison, n we are saying America is a free country today is just because it's relatively 'freer' than many other places we know. as for the country we're most familiar with, we can probably make jokes on anything incl president or PM murders here without being arrested, what about the REAL freedom of speech? actually i'm even amazed at myself being able to type the word 'democracy' here. if you acquired the knowledge that america was not a neverland country as we impressed where a casual joke like this wouldn't be permitted, well i'd like to suggest taking it as an overreaction resulted from a national ranged anxiety after 911 n all the other similar tragedies. you are more fearful to lose because you HAVE something to lose.
plus, it's not exactly the same in the 2 countries u know? we dun take someone around us playing a joke like this seriously coz we're sort of aware he's not gonna make it. but take a look at how many presidents or big names assassinated in US history, i bet it's times of the number we have.
just be cool, there's more to worry about for you over here.
