Hot 2|
When I returned to my room, it was already dusk, only sunset glow was hanging in the dark blue sky, as red as blood. My head ached; probably I caught cold in the coldness of autumn last night. I gave Mary a call to tell her I couldn’t go to the bar to work tonight.
She asked earnestly, “Why?”
”I’m having a headache.”I simply replied, “Sorry for the trouble.”
“OK.”Then she hung up instantly without even comforting me a little.
I cursed her in my heart, “Damned woman, Just a robot of earning money.”
I lay in bed lonely, thinking of my beautiful hometown for the first time in ten years. Soon I got a high fever and became thirsty; there was no drinkable water in the room for me. I was considering going home now once my illness was gone. In illness, I was only a fragile and sensitive man, anticipating someone to care me a little so eagerly.
In dizziness, I struggled out of bed, the desire of seeing the girl filling in my heart fully. I walked to the window with two heavy quivering legs and was lucky to see the girl; she was having her supper alone, always alone.
I didn’t know it was by accident or she felt something either, anyhow, she raised her head to catch me staring at her. Before I said anything, she shouted merrily, “Peeping guy, what’re you doing?”
I was a little unhappy about being called peeping guy, still I was cheerful I had someone to talk with, especially the girl in my soul. I summoned my courage to shout at her, “I’m having a fever.”
“Oh, my God.”She was surprised, “You need to go to hospital.”
“It doesn’t matter, I can sleep it off. Sorry, I need to go to bed now.”I wasn’t strong enough to stand behind the window for long. Without saying anything further, I retired to bed and felt blames surrounding me.
Soon I heard someone knocking at my door, I was ecstatic to open the door, but found it was only One, couldn’t help feeling disappointed for I thought it was the girl. I greeted him coldly, “What’re you knocking for?”
He smiled awkwardly, “I’m sorry about what I did to you before, but I’m here to say goodbye. I’ll move out tomorrow, maybe we can have supper together.”I felt a little warm to reply him, “Sorry, wrong time, I have a bad headache now.”
One then observed my face was incredibly flush, suggesting warmly, “How about sending you to hospital? Health isn’t a joke thing.”
“But I don’t have money.”
“OK. I’m destined to be poor. I just had three thousand Yuan yesterday and now you’re going to rob it.”He joked, “Really bad luck to be your friend. If I knew you were in a fever, I would never knock at your door.”
Both of us laughed heartily at the same time, we became bosom friends again. I said to him teasingly, “We’re reconciled couple after quarrel, don’t we?” One frowned deliberately, “Could you please not be so gay?”
