We begin to have a three-day-holiday to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival from this year. So I went back home on holiday to accompany my mom who had had an operation a month ago. Although mom was still recovering from the sickness, she decided to wrap up zongzi stuffed with honey jujubes and small red beans at my request.
On the first morning of the holiday after breakfast, I washed and cooked the reed leaves, soaked glutinous rice and read beans under mom's direction while mom cleaved the honey jujubes with a knife. All the preparations had been completed, so we were ready to wrap up zongzi.
When I was trying to deal with the two reed leaves, mom had finished wrapping up one 'zongzi' already using three reed leaves. It took her so short time that even I couldn't find how she made it. Mom then took a slow down in wrapping up the second one, teaching me patiently step by step.It seemed so hard for me to learn this, but I succeeded in making a 'zongzi' myself althought it turned out to be a very small one with strange shape.I didn't lose heart and tried to wrap up more.
Soon it was time for lunch and I had to stop wrapping and prepare for lunch, leaving mom went on making zongzi herself. So the final results of the numbers of 'zongzi' made by mom and I were not surprising, for mom made 65 and I made 16 respectively.
