This afternoon, after I finished my stylistics class, our class adviser came to our classroom and started “her teaching” again. It was about the commotion happened in our students’ apartment six yesterday night. This commotion had lasted for nearly a week.
It was so hot, but the school still cut up our electricity at twelve o’clock midnight. Many students could not bear this anymore, and began shouting with extreme words on the balcony. Soon more and more students joined them, and some of them even began to throw bottles onto the ground. They asked for electricity with great anger. But they failed.
This morning, a piece of news came out that one of the students who started this commotion was punished. So our class adviser taught us not to join them and keep silent in case something happened on us. From this event, maybe it cannot be called an “event”, I learns that no matter what happens, the first thing I should do is to protect myself.
Here I must state that I am not criticizing that student who started the commotion. I just think his behavior is unwise. There must be a reason for the school not to give the electricity all night. Even the weather is a little hot, and he should never express his anger directly and publicly out of impulse and without any consideration about the result.
The punishment will surely leave something undesirable on his Student’s Records, which will seriously affect his job-hunting and some other activities. If this student can think twice before his leap, all these troubles will be avoided. We are living in such a society where the evil behaviors gain more attention than the virtues. We should be aware of this.
So if you want to make a difference in this world, if you want to make some influence in this society, a basic is that you must first fully realize how to protect yourself and how to protect the chances to succeed.
