Mischieves in life

473 views. 2010-8-25 15:43 |

It is said that there exists in life a rule called the rule of mischief, referring to the phenomenon that mischief usually appears beyond our awareness and looks like a prank God plays upon us. Sometimes the more we are afraid to meet somebody or encounter something, the result often violate our expectation and come in a most tricky way. Another situation is that rightly after we boast something we have owned, the reverse trend appears.

To me, these several days are quite odd. Rightly after I complained that summer holiday provided me with so much leisure time and I was living in the boredom brought by lying around, my life suddenly became very busy. A week ago, a call from my office brought a time-consuming task for me. In the following several days I had to spend most of the day time in front of my computer in making tables, writing e-mails and discussing with my colleagues about the work. And then after attending parent’s meeting hold by son’s middle school, I began to help my son to prepare some documents needed in his new semester (though those task are designed to child, they are impossible to be finished without the help of adults). Then my life was fully occupied. I just doubt whether God had heard my complain about idleness and deliberately gave a package of work to do.

Another tricky thing is about my health. In the last a few summers, I was very easy to catch a cold. Frequently coming into and out of rooms/metro cabins with cooling air, Sneezing, dry throat and painful teeth were some bad companions hard to get rid of. This situation improved a lot this summer and in this extremely hot summer I unexpectedly haven’t got a single cold until the middle of August. Thus I began to swagger before my family member. “It looks that my health condition has improved a lot this summer.” I said to my husband:you see, I haven’t caught a cold this summer”. Unfortunately the next day sneeze and toothache haunted me. Oh, damn, I got a cold again! I recalled a similar thing that happened on father. Once he discussed the health problem with his colleague and boasted of his healthy liver. Strangely, he caught hepatitis A a month later. Firmly believing the rule of mischief, in the following years my father dared not to boast anything. .

Maybe, the rule of mischief doesn’t exist and some strange things are just out of coincidence and probability. But who knows? Sometimes I feel that we are really manipulated by some mysterious force.
