To improve my English is the main purpose of my locating myself in Dio family. After more than one year’s reading and writing in this flatform, I think I have benefited a lot from it. Firstly, I learnt new words and phrases by reading the blogs written by Dio friends. Secondly, I enlarged my vocabulary by writing my own blogs. Thirdly, I shared the profound or interesting ideas of Dio friends. Fourthly, I raised questions about English grammar in this flatform and got replies from the kindhearted friends. Finally, I learned something from Dio Wiki.

I think that learning English is time consuming job and there is no short cut to get improvement. The biggest problem of my English writing is the misuse of grammar, such as definite article, indefinite article, tense consistence. Besides, I hope that I can handle long and well organized compound sentences in the process of my writing. As to the words or phrases, choosing the proper one is not an easy thing. Once my English teacher told me that it was a common fault for students to choose big words in their writing. Some students self-asserted that using big words could enhance the level of their writing, but in fact the misuse of big words can only add the absurdity of the writing. My teacher said that only by reading could we increase our sense toward language. I will follow my teacher’s suggestion to read more in the future and thus improve my English writing. 

My major in undergraduate study is non-English and my master study is about English. Though I can write very long paper in English, but I know that I don’t have a good command of English as a language. Bachelor study mainly focuses on language itself while master study pays more attention to literature or linguistics. Teachers reads more your ideas than your languages. If all goes well, I will get my master diploma in several months, and then I will shift my attention to the pragmatical aspect of English—speaking (oral translation) and writing. I hope I can improve my English in a steady and smooth way. And I will keeping reading and writing in Dio. I am sure I can improve myself together with other friends.
