The following is about what i hear from part of a program of BBC.You can watch from the following chained address.
The days pass, and the calf is starting to get to trouble. He is having real difficulty keeping up. His mother stays with him. But the herd cannot wait. The pairs are starting to fall behind. On the snow scope , a lion might seem out of place. But they are common in Europe this time.
The baby mammoth in trouble is just a sort of thing to bring this cave lion out of its den. Defended by the full grown adult, the baby is relatively safe. The lion continue to follow, hoping the mother yearn to sleep. The pair has now completely lost the herd.
Across the landscape, other mammoths are making their same journey. This is an adult male and he travels alone. There are lions in his way feasting a strangler, in this case is not a mammoths calf, but a human. The lions will have to let him pass. Nothing gets in the way of mammoths migrating.
Mammoths are social animals. And the forest around becomes denser. So the small herds start to join up. Soon hundreds of mammoths are wandering their ways through the wintery low land of Europe. As the mammoths nearly Alsace regions, the terrain changes dramatically. Flat plains give way to hills and valleys.
It is here that lives another species of human- the Neanderthals. They are much shorter than the other humans and are like the ice age animals. They have big noses to warm the air they breathe.
Rather than migrate, they stay with the same valleys all year long weathering ? the worst of winter in shallow caves. But with this recent ice age, their numbers are plummeted. This is now an endangered species.
