I should have known the result

554 views. 2012-10-31 15:09

I took college English test 4 the first time in 1995, only 2 out of 32 students in my class passed the exam, one got 62, the other got 63. What a pity that I only got 56. The next year, those who failed CET-4 were allowed to sit the exam again, many classmates cherished the chance spending lots of time on studying for the exam, such as having English class, listening to English tape and so on. However, I attributed my failure to bad luck, so I didn’t take the exam seriously, I still lived as usual, just read English book if I was free.

The important day finally arrived. I was confident in my ability, yet I found it difficult for me to finish the paper, especially I didn’t understand the content of two articles. I felt very depressed at the end of the exam. Consequently I failed the exam again.

If you make little preparation for the exam, you should have known the result in advance before the result is released, right?

I have seen the past papers of CET. Those questions are really difficult. Is it necessary to set the standards so high? There are plenty of students who study very hard for it and yet cannot get pass marks.

In England, immigrants from Asia have to pass an English and history test before they can live in England. A newspaper asked the British premier to answer those questions and he got the wrong answers for several questions. So how can they call this fair?

English is important as language, but it is not necessary for ordinary students to be an experts.

I don't know why I can't pass the exam though I study hard.

Chance usually favors those who get well prepared.
