Yesterday I learned an interesting western festival custom from Arthur . He told us how the Italians celebrate the New Year .
On the evening of December 31 , the new year's eve , the Italians will wait for the moment when the clock struck twelve . Like we Chinese celebrate the Spring Festival , fireworks explode everywhere and continue throughout the night . Champagne corks were popping away on all sides and who the bottle plug is fallen to will have good luck in the new year .
What make you a big surprise must be people are throwing things by the window when the new year 's bell rings . It is an odd custom . They throw the furnitures , househole appliances , dishes and other things from the window . It is believed that people can chase the bad luck out and be forture in the coming year . So at that moment , peope in the street will be of danger , they must be careful in case of being hit .
How do they deal with the things in the street ? Of course , the cleaners . They will go shopping the next day and after a week , many families will set up with new furnitures and decorations .
