Self-positioning

Hot 2616 views. 2014-3-23 20:51 | self-position

Recently, I have read a lot information about the job-hunting.It says that the first thing we should consider is self-positioning. If you are a Chinese person, I believe most of you never have the chance to choose your childhood, your youth and even your profession in the university. However, when we really enter into the society and have our own profession, we find that self-positioning is really very important.
Because most people don't have the ability to choose something when they are young, they usually lack the judgement and bravery to change when they are old. As we never try to find what we are really interested in when we are young, the profession we choose in the university is not usually we really like. However, when we have to face the job-hunting, we usually find the job relevant to our profession. When we step into the career and find that we don't like the job, we are confused now. Should we give up my profession now? Ordinary people usually think I have experience in what I am doing now, although I don't like it so much. However, if I change my profession, where should I go? What I want to learn is unknown to me, can I do it well? We all fear the strange things, and don't have the bravery to give up what we have owned now. This is a common problem among ordinary people. This kind of people is not the most sorrow. The most sorrow thing is we don't know what we like and never try to find it. When we become older and older, we accept what we are now and live our rest life like this. I just dare to say it, and when I have to make my own self-positioning, I find it really very difficult and would rather choose what I major in now.
What I have told about above is just one kind of thing. Now I have also face another problem, which is the city I would like to work. We all know that different cities mean different platforms. The first-tier cities have the biggest platforms, and we can improve ourselves at the quickest speed. Certainly, we may live with great pressure. However, my parents want me to stay in Shandong Province. I want to own great success from the bottom of my heart, but I also don't want to have too much pressure. Maybe this is also a common fault among people. What I really worry about is that I can't gain what I want to own when I enter the career, as I am also a person who don't want to change myself.
However, this is life. When we are young, we should try to change our part which can make our life colorful. Certainly, we also have to face many stressful things, but all of this should not change our minds. If we don't pursuit what we like and want, what is the significance of life? We really need a lot of money in our life, but life is not always just money.

in the process of life, we are experiencing all kinds of things we might meet.
First things first, the one should position himself which is the first step for the guy to work in the society after graduation. We fear because we do not know, we are not god, so we can not even know what life is going to be like, well, let it be, things are going to all right as long as we are with a strong mind to success, though the process is sort of hard, but this the meaning of life.
Before getting old, go and do something and then we will never regret.

First, allow me to commend you for being able to write and demonstrate so well the inner thoughts of yourself and most young people nowadays. This is a delicate and complicated topic and indeed not easy to write about. I myself feel incompetent that after so much effort, I could still not speak Putonghua properly, and yet you can write English quite effectively.

Perhaps you believe that people in other countries are much better placed to choose their career or profession. I can assure you that is not a fact. Most people don't think about their choice of profession until they are forced to do so. They only think about their career when they are in the final years of middle school where they have to decide whether they wish to be in science or non-science field. Most would choose non-science subjects like economics, languages, commerce etc because those subjects are easier, likely to find good jobs, can have a good income and good social status. They regret it when they come out to society and discover that lots of people have similar qualifications and they have to compete fiercely with others to have a grip on their future. Only a few can succeed in establishing their own business or find success.

I myself, touch wood, identified an opportunity early in my career and established my own business after gaining experience through working of other companies. At present, I am financially secured, independent, quite satisfied with my struggle in life, grabbing the opportunity when it came to me and jumped onto that opportunity with force and vigor. Of course, I took risks at that time and should my venture fail, I would have been in deep debt and never able to recover. In other words, I have taken a calculated risk and survived. Good things don't come easy and you always have to struggle for it.

As for your situation, self-positioning is indeed important. Certainly, you should not even think of changing your field or profession, otherwise, your would be competing with a lot of others in a narrow and limited job market. Don't be distracted. Just concentrate on your own specialty. There are chances in every profession to advance and someday, you would succeed too. Sometimes, other professions appear easy and have chances but when you enter those professions, you would regret it because things are not what it appears to be. This may sound contradictory and discourage you from changing but facts are facts. Look before you leap.

As for whether you should work in first tier, second tier cities or your hometown requires careful consideration. A lot of businesses and industries have relocated to different cities and not concentrate on the major cities and that is why a lot of workers don't work in the major cities anymore because jobs are available at their hometowns. Each has its own merits. Working in the larger cities have better opportunities to advance but you would be living a life of solitude. There is no guarantee that you could succeed. Again, you would only discover the difficulties when you are in it. That is life and life are full of uncertainties. Get all the facts together and make the best choice for yourself. When you are quite certain about your chances, go for it.

Yes, life is not all about money. Several years later, you may look back and wonder if you have made the best decision. Looking with hindsight is always easy. Don't blindly follow the crowd, make the best and suitable decision for yourself. Wish you the best, my friend.

Thank you very much for your sincere help! I was shocked by what you have written. I will reconsider self-positioning again and balance the benefits and risks carefully. By the way, could I ask where are you living now? I always learn a lot from you and really want to know you.
