My view on trade protectionism

432 views. 2009-7-7 20:20 |

Nowadays because the continuing of the global financial crisis, many countries experienced economic downturn, corporation bankruptcy and rising of unemployment rate. A number of countries in order to protect their own immediate interests began to adopt protectionist measures. Protectionism, featuring the pursuit of benefits for one country at the expense of others, would in the end protect nobody. Rising protectionism will only exacerbate the current economic situation.

In my opinion, to effectively relieve the current global financial crisis and economic slowdown, all countries should stand by free trade and stand firmly against any form of protectionism. International cooperation is very important. All countries should stand by commitments to free trade and resist call of protectionism, everyone would benefit from further opening up. As international financial crisis is spreading, every country should have confidence and join hands in overcoming current difficulties. All countries should further explore the potential for cooperation, and guard against trade protectionism.

Today's unprecedented financial crisis has inflicted a severe impact on China. China is stick to free trade and stand together with all nations in the world in overcoming current difficulties, against trade protectionism.

Therefore, to effectively address the current global financial crisis and economic slowdown, all countries should stand firmly against protectionism.

Each nation adoptes the policies that they believe to serve the best their national interests. this is quite normal. we do the same thing. we stick to the free trade, not because we love it, but because we believe free trade is in our interets. We are more competitive than most of coutries in most of industries.

protectionism maybe protect a country's present interest, but it's harm to its long-term interest. Besides, the whole world market is also important.

It is not easy for the governments to accept your suggestion. What they are concerning about is quite complicated. It is always easier to say than do it. Whatever, your advice is meaningful! The world may finally reach that goal some day!
