My Fairyland
Walking down the tracks behind the school building, I then could reach my favorite place in my hometown---a picturesque place---a stream area. It stretches along the mountain’s foot. The stream originates from the summit and flows all the way down to a distant place. It is quite secluded and tranquil, in that it is quite far away from the main hubbub area of the village. It is a heaven of natural beauty, and imagination.
I always like walking there, lingering around, enjoying the marvelous beauty nature bestows and marveling at the power nature possesses. The stream displays different beauty under different conditions. In these nice days, the reflections of the scenery surrounding make an ancient Chinese ink picture. In the picture, the sky is blue, dotted with few white, thin clouds; the mountains are deep green, interspersed with some red or yellow flowers; the rocks are really a spectacular part of the painting, and they are always scoured by the water into all kinds of shapes, huge or smooth ones, smaller and pointed ones, or even animal-like ones---all appear to be telling their own history.
While in these drizzling days, the stream takes on a different sense of beauty. In these moments, it is always much tranquiller and much more vague and misty, like a shy girl covering herself with a soft, light veil to hide herself from the strangers but only to arouse their curiosity and wonder about her beauty and desire to approach her, uncover the veil, and read her real beauty. In the mist, I am always wondering that is it possible that Zhinv might be sitting somewhere near me, sobbing, in a way I could not feel, for the forced separation from her beloved husband and kids? Is it possible that Narcissus is bending over to the water with a view to appreciating his own beauty more clearly? Or is it possible that behind some huge rock is lying the mermaid, praying to God to bless her prince and his bride, though the bride is not her? Or ...
Such is the stream that it is equal to any fairylands in these ancient myths, blessing natural beauty and breeding imagination.
