We always say “it doesn’t matter” when actually it does matter and even matter a lot to us, anyway, I regard myself as such a sort of person. The fact is I always tell myself that this or that does not matter and does not worth a bit of my care. Whatever others say, whatever others do, and whatever they think about me myself---all these things I will not care, and I will just be myself and do what I want to---hit my own path. And when some of my friends get hurt by others or so, I also try to persuade them not to care too much about others opinions or behaviors, and it is enough just to be yourself.

However, it is really difficult to maintain such an attitude and be aloof about others’ opinions and behaviors. I think the real fact is we care as much as we don’t want to care. And it is because we are too scared to be hurt that we pretend to be aloof and avoid the outer world and its people.

Yes, we do care a lot. Actually, we care about what others say, what others do and what others think of us. Then we change---we may change our dress style or hairstyle because others think low of our previous one, we may even change our taste towards books or music because others think that our previous taste is too bad and immature, and then we may even change our values, thoughts, and beliefs. Then we recreate ourselves. But the problem is---is it still me myself, the very me?
