Apples
No doubt you’ve heard the old adage “an apple a day…”, well it's truer than you think.
Benefits: Vitamin C, fiber, flavonoids. Flavonoids promote heart health by reducing platelet adhesion in arteries, lowering cholesterol, and relaxing and dilating arteries. FIBER actually means you could have it as your meal, for you can get a sense of satisfation in your stomach. Diets high in fiber lower the risk of heart disease, and help prevent constipation. Apples also contain antioxidants, which have been proven to have positive effects on the heart as well as minimize the risk of cancer.
Apricots
Benefits: Vitamins A, C, E, and K; fiber; carotenoids. Less seen Chinese market.
Bananas
Benefits: Vitamins B6 and C, fiber, magnesium, potassium. Potassium and magnesium lower blood pressure. For their size, they pack quite the carbohydrate punch, and contain healthy sugar. They make the ideal snack for anyone trying to lose weight while maintaining a healthy diet.
Berries Blueberry, blackberry, boysenberry, raspberry
Benefits: Vitamin C, folate, fiber, manganese, potassium. They are credited with helping to prevent cancer and heart disease. Blueberries help to promote brain health and prevent high blood pressure. They are also known for their high antioxidant content. They are a little expensive in China, but worthy.
Muskmelon
Benefits: Vitamins A, B6, and C; folate; potassium; fiber. . Anyone seeking to add more potassium to his or her diet should certainly consider this fruit.
Oranges
Benefits: Vitamins A, B6, and C; folate; potassium; fiber. By the way, I love oranges, esp. navel orange. Not only in Folorida they have navel orange of good quality, we have also in China. It's not expensive and available. Maybe I will tell more about oranges in the future.
Grapefruit
Benefits: Vitamin C, potassium, calcium, flavonoids. Calcium, with potassium and magnesium, helps lower blood pressure. The grapefruit is also known as a digestive aid. So if you’re in the habit of having a grapefruit now and then with breakfast, you should stick with it.
Kiwi
Benefits: Vitamins C and E, fiber, magnesium. Vitamin E is an antioxidant thought to reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol. This fruit is famous for its high vitamin C content. It can protect your heart. You may find most of Kiwi in the market label imported from Australis or New zealand and in high price. Be careful, it may be domestic. So why not choose some domestic brands with good quality? Tips: Kiwi do best in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
Papaya
Benefits: Vitamins A, C, and E; folate; calcium; magnesium; potassium. Look carefully when buying papaya: Bright yellow (fully ripe) papaya should be eaten that day. Choose yellow and green fruit that's slightly soft when pressed. Personally, I always feel it has a weird taste. Anyway, good for you.
Mangoes
Benefits: There are many different varieties of this fruit, but they all contain beta-carotene and vitamin C. Termed a super fruit by some, one taste will reveal why this fruit is so popular. Even the skin is known to be a good source of fiber. Mangoes contains a high level of phytochemicals which covers a number of compounds known to be promote good health. Last month, I was crazy for mini mangoes. So sweet and frangant. I'm sure you will find the right mango for you, any shape, color, and flavor you like. An Australian proffessor told me that they can breed mango with any feature you like. It's true.
I have having fruits diets for three days, no fruitful effects shown. But I believe it will come sooner or later. Join me?
