The Double Seven Festival known as Chinese Valentine's Day falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. It is called Qing Ren Jie,Qi Xi Jie, or Qi Qiao Jie.

I want to share the story with all the friends in DioEnglish.com.
A long time ago, there was a poor cow-herder named Niu Lang. His parents died and he lived with his elder brother and his wife who were both mean and treated Niu Lang badly. They kicked Niu Lang out of the house and left him old clothes and an old ox. Niu Lang built a cottage at the foot of mountain and took good care of that old ox. One day the ox spoke to him and told that it used to be Taurus, a proud star in the night sky but was punished due to his violation to law of the Heavenly Palace. The old ox told Niu Lang some Goddesses would come to the pond not far away from his cottage to have a bath. Zhi Nu, who was the daughter of the king in Heaven, was among them. She was the kindest and the most beautiful. If he could take her clothes away, she would left there and become his wife. Niu Lang listened to the old ox, and went to the pond on the appointed day. When the Goddesses came and took off their silk ropes and jumped into the water, Niu Lang found Zhi Nu's clothes and hid away. The other Goddesses saw Niu Lang so they dressed quickly and flew away leaving Zhi Nu there. He had adored her from the first moment he saw her. They looked into each other's eyes. The heavenly girl told the poor cow-herder that she would be his wife.
They soon got married and lived together in that cottage. Niu Lang worked hard to grow crops and Zhi Nu raised silkworms. They lived a simple but happy life, with a little boy and girl Zhi Nu gave birth afterwards.
One day the old ox died and they preserved its hide according to its words. At the same time, the King and Queen of heaven learned that Zhi Nu married a mortal man and had babies. The Queen flew down to earth with her soldiers and took Zhi Nu away. Niu Lang came home and found Zhi Nu not at home. The babies cried and told him where Zhi Nu was going. Niu Lang remembered what the old ox had told him and placed the twins in wicker baskets on a pole to carry on his shoulder, put on the magic hide around them , and flew up, up into the sky. The Queen noticed that Niu Lang was following them. She became angry and took out one of her hairpins. With one wave of her arm she created a raging river that divided them. He could not get past this wide swollen river. Heartbroken, Niu Lang and his children could only look and weep bitterly. The King in his Heavenly Palace was moved by the sound of their crying, and decided to allow Niu Lang and Zhi Nu to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
Few magpies are seen on double seven day, as most of them fly to Milky River to form a bridge over the raging river for the annual meeting of Niu Lang and Zhi Nu.
It is a romantic story about true love that inspires all of us to express our true love on this special day.
