Many people complaint that, today our society become more and more indifferent, for instance, several days ago in certain city of Xian province, a woman was robbed in street and asked for help, but nobody responsed at all, and at last the woman was murdered among the crowd. Commonly, many people will attribute this indifference to 60 years economic reform, which made our country become rich and stronge, but also made people money-oriented, and the economic benefit has became the norm of measuring everything nowadays. Pepole became cool and indifferent in the course of pursuing money. I don't agree with this opinion, pursue individual's benefit is human's nature, permitting people pursue individual's benefit maximumly is one of the standards of democratic society. The key of the problem isn't people seek personal interest, is our government breach of duty. People pursue personal interest inevitably lead to compete, and competition naturally lead to the indifference of interpersonal relation, and even social disorder. Government, the most important function of her is keeping the society in order and harmony when people freely compete. In a word, social indifference isn't because of people pursue individual's benefit, due to government do not undertake effective mechanism to establish a friendly and harmony competitive atmosphere. And the worst is that our government joins in the activities of pursuing benefit! Just as Shanghai transportation department's Fishing Law Enforcement, which was revealed recently by the media. Government set baits, and induced virtuous drivers to "break" the regulations and fine them heavily in order to get extra earning. Government did so, how can we expect ordinary people to do?  Government, please don't become the killer of social conscience.
