When throwing a glimse on a piece of newspaper on my desk, it crossed my mind that the day before yesterday was National Ear-Care Day. This was the 11th Ear-Care Day and, the theme of it was: Cochlear implanting-reconstruct the hope of hearing. Here, I hope every person who has defect in hearing could regain normal hearing as soon as possible. This wish is the nature reaction of my heart when I learning of the date about Ear-Care Day. A scene I came across one year ago never refuse to quit my memory. From that experience, I know how happy possessing a normal hearing a person is and how helpless for those who suffered from hearing problems.
The story happened in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University when I took care of one of my relatives. My relative suffered from chronical rhinitis and had to eradicate the infection part through operation..His ward was close to Ear illness Ward. The occupants in the neighbour ward grasped my attention. They came from one family. A demure young lady was a mother of a clever girl who suffered hearing deterioration. Her husband was tall and shrewed with a leisure suit. The lady, looked neat and fashionable. But in her flash eye lights, I detect a kind of helpless feeling. And during the period I stayed at the hospital, I didn't hear her saying a word. Latterly, through conversation with her relatives, I knew their story full of twists and turns. The couples all can't hear anything, after they married, they hoped their child should have healthy ears. To their disappointed, when their lovely daughter was in her four grade in a prime school, she find she could not hear the discourse of her teachers gradually. You can imagine how horroble this news was for the fragile family. Oh, my! Would it be really that the pain which have been tolerated by parents would still torture their child again. It is unfair! Maybe this was the desaperate shout breaking out in inner hearts of this couple. Implanting cochlear is the only way to save the ear function of their daughter and the cost of the operation, for them, was an astronomical number. Lucky they were, because of the activity of Ear-Care Day, some charity organization donated 100 thousands Yuan and they could fullfill their dream of salvaging their daughter. When I looked at the thoughtful girl, I felt she was really lucky for, by a chance, she can has opportunity to regain her hearing. Beside her, there are lots of children who can't be cured even though their families could afford the huge cost of cochlear implanting. As healthy persons with normal hearing, we should cherish our precious ears. These days, more and more college students like hearing hiphop on walksman, such things really do harm to their hearings. Think of the poor girl and then protect our own ears immediately. This is my advice in Ear-Care Day!
