Chiese bureaucracy is always overstaffed. A public servant is usually not easy to have opportunities to get promoted except he has a wealthy father or he is lucky enough. Ms, Zhang, the vice-dean of our work unite belongs to the second category. She is a woman from Korean ethnic group. In present official culture, person inheriting some kind of ethnic blood and possessing feminine features always has comparative advantage over others. My Ms.Vice Dean has been enjoying smooth promotion during her official process.

But two days ago, news came that she was rushed to hospital for her heart problems. After having an thorough examination, she was told to have an immediate heart stent surgery. For us, this means her heart suffers a serious illness.

We paid a visit to her in a common hospital ward. She looked better compared with her poor condition before surgery. She told us that doctors had warned her of not working too hard. I think the words of Doctors are only right in some extent. The culprit of her illness is everlasting desire. This desire tortured her now and then. She has to take part in all kind of parties to establish connections. She has to inspect one place after another instead of staying at home to enjoy the aroma of tulips in her backyard. She looks more like a machine, saying something without sincerity or drinking down liquors she doesn’t enjoy. All this glamorous social activities took a toll on her poor heart.

So, my prescription to her is getting rid of social responsibilities and serving as a good housewife. But I think she would not devour my “pill” for that kind of lifestyle means disgrace. There has been a famous saying in Chinese which goes: Woman that is of illiteracy owns a big virtue. In fact, this is a saying formulated in old times when social status of women was not secured. Now a lot of Chinese women enjoy almost equal social status with their counterpart, but another social problem appears, i.e., who will take care of the health of those busy women.

Every thing has two sides. Glamorous woman always has a good appearance but messy private life. God don’t bestow women with a capacity to deal well with work and family life at the same time. We should not blame God. Woman is the only one left to be blamed. Poor woman.
