50 minutes experience of waiting for a bus

1160 views. 2012-11-12 16:04 |

These two days, I am involved in a cold war with my wife for travail matters. The good aspect of the reticence between us is I need not drive her to her work unit So, I left my car at home and went to work by bus yesterday. I think this is the ideal way to celebrate the Bachelor Day which fell right on yesterday.

The weather of November of Harbin is usually lukewarm. Now it is the interval of the upcoming harsh cold front and residue of warm air. In fact, we harbiner prefer piercing cold weather to such spiritless weather. Yesterday, it was cloudy. For the absence of green leaves, the whole world was imbued with a hue of gray. I thought it ought to snow latter in the day. But it turned out to be a harbinger of an unwelcomed drizzle.

And the drizzle tuned into a heavy rain when I was standing under the canopy of a bus station before the Youth Palace of Harbin. I had expected to catch the Bus line 63 at a wink. But it was just an illusion. I almost waited for one hour to shoulder my way onto a bus. At the beginning, several buses rushed near the platform and people swarmed to the door of bus with sprints. The intimidating fact was the buses had been cramped with commuters already. But people don’t mind, they had been standing in the rain for a long while. Some of them even stepped through the puddle without noticing their shoes were wet. They had the same desire with me, i.e. go home without boring delay. Because of slow reaction, I failed to get on the buses time and again. A lot of commuters had the same fate with me. The temperature dropped fast and my thick jacket could not withstand the wind gradually. Other people had the same felling for they tried to bury their chins into their collars. This scenario reminds me of the posture of kin penguins in winter. A lot of people lost their patience to wait for cheap bus and began to resort to Taxis. But now it was sellers market for Taxi drivers. They are choosy and pretentious. And people must agree to share the Taxi with others before taking on. But elegance of women and dignity for gentlemen meant nothing now. As long as the Taxi driver nodded, the doors had been dragged open immediately. This was not a bus station where people can choose to go home at a decent way. It had become a competition venue. Only those guys with sharp sights, good hearing, quick reaction and great decision could gain the slim opportunity to go home.

At last, I successfully elbowed my way onto a bus when the rush hour was about to pass. I tell you that time is the happiest moment in My Bachelor Day. I hope traffic administration could guarantee everyone a trip to home with dignity and grace. Or more and more private cars would take to the streets. That would be a start of new vicious circle.
