Yesterday, Professor Feng from Tsinghua University gave a lecture on thinking about law education in China in my institute. One piece of his advice about how to inprove present law education is that all students in law academy should exercise autonomy. I completely agree this suggestion.
Up to now, I've gone through more than 16 years in schools, from primary school to university. Now I'm pursuing a master's degree, and thus I have to continue my life in the next 3 years. The title--student-- is be with me almost 20 years. How to be a qualified and even excellent students ia always the No.1 topic in my life. I think most students are in the same situation with me.
We are educated and evaluated by teachers, parents and emplores-to-be under the ossified and denounced education system. We're eager to release; we're eager to defy; we're eager to change. Nevertheless, heavy burden is bound to be on our weak shoulders--we have to get all we want and we're expected to want by using such system, for everyone in the society accepts this education and evaluation system.
So how can we exercise autonomy? How can we get rid of everything regardless anything?
Am I too pessimistic?
No!
At least, I've realise the key to reach that goal. Whether the reform will be put through, we students should alway be aware of our strength. In modern society, whether you will be succeed in your career life don't completely depend on the peformences at schools, and the capabilty you own is a more significant element. So don't be so fully obedient to current education system, do everything that is able to enhance your ability and does really help to your future job. As far as I'm concerned, this's the first step to get closer to that aim.
