I’ve watched this film for dozens of times. It is a simple story. A newspaper columnist Peyton McGruder (played by Genie Francis) meets a readingship problem because her column ‘Heart Healer’ ranks the lowest. A plane crash happens, and Peyton finds a note meant for a child of one of the passengers onboard. Inspired by her colleague, Kingston Danville (played by Ted McGinley, and by the way, I like him a lot ^_^), she decides to start a searching journey for the right recipient, to solve the little mystery by herself while log it on her column.
‘Who would you like to reach out if you have only the last three minutes in your life? What kind of message do you want to deliver?’ It is a hypothetical question. I seldom think about this kind of questions because I think it is meaningless, life is not consisted of ifs and buts and the key issue is to move forward. However, when I see this movie, I believe I’m wrong. Ifs and buts do have their value. When we keep going forward in our lives, for getting the upper degree, better job, bigger house, nice spouse, smart kid, and etc., sometimes, we should slow down and ask ourselves these ‘meaningless’ questions. Because when we do, we will find something important and meaningful but we neglect for the carelessness or taking for granted, like, write a note to our aging parents or make a phone call to our old friends.
The first time when I say ‘I love you’ to my kid and give her goodnight kiss, I am a little embarrassed. Because I think it is too sweet to speak out. But I insist on doing this and now it is a habit for both of us. I also encourage my kid to say sweet things to her dad. People always say, actions speak louder than words. In my personal view, words is also powerful, isn’t it?
